After the last two weeks of real life distractions I’m back on Asylum development.
I’ve realised that the final basement part will require a feature that GameMaker Studio 2 doesn’t have at the moment, however it should be dropping in the last quarter of this year, which means there shouldn’t be a long wait now.
The feature is called ‘Sequences’ and allows complex animated sequences to be set up and controlled via scripts – this will help no end and so I’ve decided to wait for it’s release.
In the meantime I’m going to be sorting out more sprites that are needed for the second flashback and to add additional clutter to the basement, which is looking a bit sparse at the moment.
I’m also going to go back through everything I’ve done so far and see if there are places that need a bit of polish.
There are hidden collectables in the game and although you can read them when you pick them up there’s currently no way to see them again, so what I need is an extra page on my pause screen that allows for trinkets to be looked at again.
All of that should keep me busy until Sequences is released.
