Those that have been keeping an eye out for the release of AutoWallpaper 5 will be pleased to know that it is now confirmed for release this coming Saturday (19th). I updated my MacBook Pro to OS X 10.6, and then straight up to 10.6.1 (quick turn around for a bug fix), and tested AutoWallpaper 5. No problems have been found so far. The reason for the recent delay was because of 2 potential issues; firstly whilst reading through the Apple support forum I discovered that there are quite a few users of the new OS that have discovered that they can no longer change to their own wallpapers, this slightly concerned me but then I received an email from a user of AW4 who was having a problem with wallpapers cycling under 10.6. My first guess was that the wonderful people at Apple (sarcasm) had decided to change something in the next update and that it would force me to recode the wallpaper changing routines for the Mac Edition. Fortunately it turned out to be a small bug that appears to be quite rare that means that AW won't cycle on the Mac when the user has one monitor, multiple categories and that those categories are applied to a specific monitor. So, with this confirmed I can run my final checks, see if AutoWallpaper 5 has the same rare bug, compile the final builds and release as planned.
